Malnutrition In Intensive Care Patients

Abstract

The prevalence of malnutrition in Intensive care unit ICU patients varies between 30% and 50%. Malnutrition can cause complications in ICU patients and thus malnutrition may lead to an increase in the length of stay, morbidity and mortality in ICU. There are serious limitations of the methods used in the assessment of malnutrition in ICU patients. Age, treatments and mechanical ventilation, diseases, mobilization problems, lack of nutritional assessment and documentation can increase the malnutrition risk of ICU patients. Patients with malnutrition will benefit from nutritional support in ICU. Adequate nutritional support given to the patients in the ICU, helps to prevent malnutrition and related complications.

Yoğun Bakım Hastalarında Malnütrisyon

Year 2015, , 420 - 427, 01.11.2015
https://doi.org/10.5505/abantmedj.2015.96720
