Comparison of the Microhardness and Surface Roughness Values of a New Composite After the Application of Different Polishing Systems with Current Composite Resins

Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study is to compare the mechanical properties of a new microhybrid dental composite material with different microhybrid and nanohybrid composite materials in terms of surface roughness and microhardness.
Materials and Method: Measurements were made with the microhardness machine on the samples prepared with the newly produced Dolgunn (Himg Seramik ve Medikal Kompozit San.Tic. Ltd.Sti, Turkey), G-aenial (GC, Japan) and Filtek Z250 (3M, USA) composites. For the surface roughness test, Clearfil Twist Dia and 3M Soft-lex systems were applied to Dolgunn, G-aenial, Ceramx Spectra (Dentsply Sirona, Germany) and Filtek Ultimate samples. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare microhardness and Tukey HSD test was used for multiple comparisons, Kruskal-Wallis test was used for surface roughness comparison, and Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction was used for multiple comparisons. The Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparisons according to the polishing system.
Results: When the findings were examined, no difference was found between Dolgunn and Filtek Z250 composites in terms of microhardness values (p=0.661). The G-aenial composite had lower hardness (p<0.05). A statistical difference was found in the comparison of the roughness values of the application of two-stage and multi-stage polishing systems to four different composites (p<0.001).
Conclusion: Dolgunn composite was found to have sufficient microhardness and polishing ability. According to the results of our study, it is predicted that Dolgunn composite, which is a new formulation composite, should be evaluated with more comprehensive mechanical and clinical tests.

Abstract
Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı yeni mikrohibrit özellikli bir dental kompozitin mekanik özelliklerinden yüzey pürüzlülüğü ve mikrosertliğini piyasada yaygın olarak kullanılan farklı mikrohibrit ve nanohibrit kompozitlerle karşılaştırmaktır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Yeni üretilen Dolgunn (Himg Seramik ve Medikal Kompozit San.Tic. Ltd.Sti, Türkiye) kompoziti, G- aenial (GC, Japonya) ve Filtek Z250 (3M, ABD) ile hazırlanan örneklere mikrosertlik test cihazı ile ölçümler yapıldı. Yüzey pürüzlülüğü testi için Dolgunn, G- aenial, Ceram.x Spectra (Dentsply Sirona, Almanya) ve Filtek Ultimate (3M, ABD) örneklerine Clearfil Twist Dia (Kuraray, Japonya) ve Soft-lex (3M, ABD) sistemleri uygulandı. Mikrosertliklerinin karşılaştırılması tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve çoklu karşılaştırmalarda Tukey HSD testi, yüzey pürüzlülüklerinin karşılaştırılmasında Kruskal-Wallis ve çoklu karşılaştırmalarda Bonferroni düzeltmeli Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Polisaj sistemine göre karşılaştırmalarda ise Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Bulgular incelendiğinde Dolgunn ve Filtek Z250 kompozitleri arasında mikrosertlik değerleri açısından farklılık bulunmamıştır (p=0.661). G-aenial kompoziti ise diğer kompozitlerden istatiksel farklı olarak daha düşük sertlikte bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Dört farklı kompozite iki aşamalı ve çok aşamalı cila sistemleri uygulanmasının pürüzlülük değerleri karşılaştırmasında istatiksel olarak farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0.001).
Sonuç: Dolgunn kompoziti yeterli mikrosertlik düzeyine ve parlatılabilirliğe sahip bulundu. Çalışmamızın sonuçlarına göre yeni formülasyon bir kompozit olan Dolgunn kompozit dolgu materyalinin daha kapsamlı mekanik ve klinik testler ile değerlendirilmesi gerektiği öngörülmektedir.
