İNGİLTERE MÜZELERİNDE İZNİK SERAMİK KOLEKSİYONLARININ OLUŞUMUNDA KOLEKSİYONERLERİN ETKİSİ

Abstract

Türkiye’de seramik üzerine yapılan bilimsel çalışmalarda seramiklerin teknik, motif ve kompozisyon özellikleri üzerinde durulurken; eserlerin edinme yöntemleri, koleksiyon sahibi kişiler ya da kurumlar genellikle geri planda kalmıştır. Bu çalışmada İngiltere’de koleksiyonlara miras, bağış ve satın alma aracılığıyla dâhil olan İznik üretimi seramik koleksiyonlarının oluşumunda koleksiyonerlerin payı üzerinde durulmuştur. 

Avrupa ile Doğu arasında adeta köprü görevi gören koleksiyonerler, 1850 itibariyle sistematik ve bilinçli olarak İslam kültürüne ait seramikleri toplamışlardır.  Makalede, İznik seramikleri koleksiyonu yapan sanatseverlerin kültürel geçmişlerinden, koleksiyonlarının oluşum sürecinden, eser alımlarındaki stratejilerinden, maddi durumlarını anlamamıza yarayan kaynaklar ve bağış süreci gözler önüne serilecektir.
