Sosyal Medyada Algılanan Sosyal Desteğin, Yaşam Doyumu Üzerindeki Etkinliği: Üniversite Gençliği Araştırması

Abstract

Günümüzde sosyal medya, birçok alanda kullanıcısının ihtiyaçlarını karşılamaktadır. Özellikle sosyal destek kaynaklarına her an yüz yüze ulaşmanın zor olması, sosyal medyanın önemini artırmaktadır. Sosyal medya, bireylerin sosyal destek kaynaklarına erişimini kolaylaştırmaktadır. Gençlerin sosyal medya kullanım alışkanlık ve amaçları göz önünde bulundurulduğunda; sosyal medyanın gençler için, sosyal destek sağlama konusunda önemli bir araç olduğu söylenebilir. Genç ve ergenlerin sosyal ihtiyaçlarını karşılamaya yönelik sosyal destek kaynaklarına başvurması; bu doğrultuda duygusal ve maddi ihtiyaç gibi konularda desteklendiğini bilmesi, yaşam doyumunu olumlu bir şekilde etkilemektedir. Sosyal medyada algılanan sosyal desteğin yaşam doyumu üzerindeki etkinliğini ortaya koymak üzere, nicel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı bu araştırmada, 315 katılımcıdan online anket tekniği ile veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda kadınların, erkeklere nazaran, günlük sosyal medya karşısında daha çok zaman geçirdikleri; en sık WhatsApp, YouTube ve Instagram’ı kullandıkları belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sosyal medyada algılanan sosyal desteğin; duygusal, araçsal, bilgisel ve değerlendirme gibi farklı boyutlarda ortaya çıkabileceğini göstermektedir. Çalışma ile algılanan sosyal desteğin, yaşam doyumu üzerinde, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ve pozitif yönlü etkisi tespit edilmiştir.
