Abstract
There are 18 values that should be taught to students in the social studies program, which was renewed in 2018. How many values are included in doctoral studies in social studies and how much study is conducted on teaching values is essential in gaining values to students correctly. Therefore, the study aims to examine the doctoral theses in social studies education in terms of values and give an idea about the values that are not studied to the researchers who will study on values. In the study, which was carried out with the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, four hundred and forty doctoral theses in social studies education from the Council of Higher Education Thesis Center between 1998 and 2021 were examined, and twenty-nine doctoral theses on values were reached. The theses were evaluated in terms of the year, value topic, method, study group and data analysis. Descriptive analysis was used in the classification and evaluation of the data. Additionally, findings are depicted through graphics. As a result of the research, it was seen that most studies on values were conducted in 2018, the mixed design was most preferred, and the data were mainly analyzed with SPSS and content analysis.
