Yasincizade Abdulwahhab Efendi served five years as a
shaykhulislam during t he r eign o f M ahmud I I, w ho w as one of t he most
effective sultans of Ottoman modernization. And Yasincizade Abdulwahhab
Efendi’s treatise titled KHulâsatu’l-Burhan fî İtaati’s-Sultan was one of the most
important works of that period. For, the reforms of Mahmud II were supported
by the religious proofs in this treatise. Thus, twenty-five hadiths of the Prophet
(p.b.u.h.) were presented within the tradition of writing forty-hadith so as to
establish an integrity around the perspective of obeying the sultan. In this
article, we aimed to contribute the studies on the history of Ottoman
modernization by transcribing the Khulâsa. The hadiths recorded in the treatise
are extracted and authenticated (takhrij). In order to determine the style that
Yasincizade used in hadith translations, the hadith texts are matched with the
translated ones. In addition, we stated the sources of the treatise and
summarized the contents of hadiths. Then we wrote a short conclusion.
