The Ministry of Press-Edition and Tourism (MPET, 1957-1963) is an important period in the history of Turkey tourism. In this period, tourism promotion and propaganda activities were important as a factor triggering and strengthening the development in the field of tourism. Introduction the Turkey’s historic and natural values to Turkish citizens and foreign touristic and awakening a positive image about the country has been among the main objectives by MPET. However, the country’s political, administrative, economic and social problems, the lack of adequate tourism infrastructure and the negative perception of Turkey in the Western countries, has negatively affected the promotion and propaganda activities. In the study were discussed the problems of promotion and propaganda activities in the period of MPET. The opinions and suggestions expressed in the determination and solution of these problems and the activities carried out are important to understand the MPET period.
