Abstract

This study is conducted to determine the extent to which Problem Solving Theory is applicable in different cultures, which is an extended form of Publics Thory as a valid theory for classifying general population based on publics and determining which communicative behavior types is presented by these publics. According to the study which is carried out with 288 participants, a high degree of problem and involvement perception is resulted in a high degree of situational motivation; a high degree of constraint perseption is resulted in a low degree of situational motivation, existence of referent criterion and a high degree of situational motivation are resulted in high degree of commuticative actions. Thus, validity and applicability of the Problem Solving Theory in different cultures is confirmed.

Problem Çözme Kuramı’nın Geçerliliği Üzerine Bir Uygulama: Atatürk Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışma genel halkın kamular bazında ayrıştırılmasında ve bu kamuların hangi
durumlarda ne tür iletişim davranışları sergilediklerini saptamada ilgili literatürde
oldukça kullanışlı bulunan Kamular Kuramı’nın daha genişletilmiş hali olan Problem
Çözme Kuramı’nın farklı kültürlerde ne düzeyde uygulanabilir olduğunu ortaya koymak
üzere gerçekleştirilmiştir. Toplam 288 katılımcı üzerinde gerçekleştirilen çalışmada ilgili
kuram kapsamında öne sürüldüğü gibi yüksek düzeyde bir problem ve ilgililik algısının
yine yüksek düzeyde bir durumsal motivasyona, yüksek düzeyde bir kısıtlılık algısının dü-
şük düzeyde bir durumsal motivasyona, gönderge kriterinin varlığının ve yüksek düzeyde
bir durumsal motivasyonun ise yüksek düzeyde iletişim eylemlerine yol açtığı ve buradan
hareketle Problem Çözme Kuramı’nın farklı kültürlerde de geçerli ve uygulanabilir olduğu
doğrulanmıştır
