EBELERİN OBSTETRİK ŞİDDETE YÖNELİK BİLGİLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ: KESİTSEL BİR ÇALIŞMA

Year 2025, Volume: 5 Issue: 12
https://doi.org/10.54270/atljm.2025.74

Abstract

Bulgular: Ebelerin %25’i 40 yaş ve üzeri, %75’i ise üniversite mezunudur. Ebelerin %83,8’i obstetrik şiddeti konu alan bir eğitime katılmadıklarını, %53,8’i ise obstetrik şiddete ilişkin bilgi düzeylerinin orta olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Ebelerin %93,8’i obstetrik şiddetin sağlık çalışanları tarafından kadınlara uygulanan bir şiddet türü olduğu, %92,5’i kadınların bedenleri üzerindeki söz hakkını engellediği ifadelerine doğru yanıtını vermişlerdir. Ebelerin %81,3’ü hastaneye yatışlarda rutin damar yolu açılmasının, %61,3’ü rutin sezaryen doğum uygulanmasının ve %55’i doğum sürecinde rutin uygulanan müdahalelerin (amniyotomi, epizyotomi) obstetrik şiddete örnek olmadığını belirtmişlerdir.
Sonuç: Araştırma sonucunda ebelerin obstetrik şiddet bilgi düzeylerini orta düzeyde olarak değerlendirdikleri, çoğunluğunun daha önce obstetrik şiddete yönelik bir eğitime katılmadıkları görülmüştür. Ebelerin çoğunluğunun obstetrik şiddeti değerlendiren ifadelere doğru cevaplar verdiği ancak bazı eylemlerin obstetrik şiddet kavramı içerisinde yer aldığının farkında olmadıkları belirlenmiştir.

INVESTIGATION OF MIDWIVES' KNOWLEDGE ON OBSTETRIC VIOLENCE: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Year 2025, Volume: 5 Issue: 12
https://doi.org/10.54270/atljm.2025.74

Abstract

Aim: This study was conducted to assess midwives' knowledge of obstetric violence.
Methods: The cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted between July and September 2023. The study population consisted of all midwives working in a public hospital. The study was completed with a total of 80 midwives who volunteered to participate in the study. A descriptive information form and an information form on obstetric violence, prepared in accordance with the literature, were used to collect the study data.
Results: Twenty-five per cent of the midwives were aged 40 or over and 75 per cent were university graduates. 83.8% of midwives reported that they had not received any training on violence in childbirth and 53.8% reported that their knowledge of violence in childbirth was moderate. 93.8% of midwives answered correctly that obstetric violence is a form of violence inflicted on women by health professionals and 92.5% answered correctly that it prevents women from having a say over their bodies. 81.3% of midwives said that routine intravenous access during hospitalisation, routine caesarean section (61.3%) and routine interventions (amniotomy, episiotomy) during childbirth (55%) were not examples of obstetric violence.
Conclusion: As a result of the research, it was found that midwives rated their level of knowledge about obstetric violence as medium and the majority of them had never attended any training on obstetric violence. It was found that the majority of midwives gave correct answers to the statements assessing obstetric violence, but they were not aware that some acts were included in the concept of obstetric violence.
