Abstract

Abstract
Determination of the dynamics of city growth and implementation of proper policies compatible with these dynamics is important for urban development and national economic growth. Thus, aim of this study is to explain the growth dynamics of cities (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics-NUTS Level 3 regions) in Turkey. The social and economic factors affecting cities’ per capita income and population growth are investigated for 2007 and 2016. Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) is employed to examine the spatially changing effects of these factors. The results show that the differentiating policies to each city should be preferred instead of uniform policies.
