YÜKSEK ÖĞRENİM KURUMLARININ SOSYAL ETKİLERİNİN ÖLÇÜMÜ ÜZERİNE KARŞILAŞTIRMALI BİR ANALİZ

Abstract

Kurumsal Sosyal Sorumluluk (KSS) ya da sürdürülebilirlik sadece devletlerin ya da özel sektör şirketlerinin ilgilendiği bir konu olmaktan çıkmış, uzun zamandır üniversitelerin de odak noktası haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, üniversitelerin ‘Sosyal Etki’ açısından topluma katkı etkisinin ne şekilde olması gerektiği ve bu etkilerine dair gerek iç gerek dış paydaşları ile iletişimini yapmalarının önemi, küresel ölçekte kullanılan sıralama ve raporlama sistemlerinin karşılaştırmalı analizi yapılarak ortaya koyulmuştur. Yapılan analiz kapsamında, yükseköğrenim kurumlarının KSS çalışmalarının bir ayağı olan Sosyal Etkiyi oluşturan ana başlıklar şu şekilde sınıflandırılabilir: ‘Çalışanlara Sağlanan Haklar ve Çalışanların Gelişimi’, ‘İnsan Hakları ve Eşit Haklar’, ‘Ekonomik ve Toplumsal Kalkınmaya Katkı’ ve ‘Çevresel Uygulamalar’. Bahsi geçen bu alanlar, üniversitelerin sosyal etkisinin mevcut durumunu ortaya koyarken, eksiklikleri de belirtilerek değerlendirilmiş, bu kapsamda ilgili strateji ve iletişim çalışmalarının önemi de vurgulanmıştır.

A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS ON MEASURING THE SOCIAL IMPACTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or sustainability is not only a matter of concern to governments or private sector companies, but has also become a focus of universities for a long time. In this study, a comparative analysis of the ranking and reporting systems which is used on a global scale in order to express universities’ community contribution position in terms of ‘Social Impact’ and the importance their communication practices with both internal and external stakeholders. Within the scope of the analysis, the main headings that make up the Social Impact, which is a pillar of the Corporate Social Responsibility effort of higher education institutions, can be classified as follows: ‘Rights Provided to Employees and Development of Employees’, ‘Human Rights and Equal Rights’, ‘Contribution to Economic and Social Development’ and ‘Environmental Practices’. While presenting the current status of the social impact of universities, the shortcomings in their current scope have also been taken into account as well as the importance of the relevant strategies and communication studies.
