When we look at the expressions used about human beings in the Quran, it is striking that there are both positive and negative expressions. On the one hand, it is mentioned that man was created in the most beautiful form, honorable and superior to most of the creatures, etc., and on the other hand, his weakness, impetuousness, ungratefulness, etc. Considering that there is no contradiction between the verses of the Quran, how should it be understood that there are both positive and negative statements about the same entity in the Quran? This is the main problem of the research. The science that examines the conflict and contradiction that is thought to exist between the verses of the Quran is Mushkil al-Quran. For this reason, the meaning of negative expressions used in the Quran about human beings in the research has been tried to be discussed in the context of Mushkil al-Quran. In this context, firstly, some positive expressions used about human beings were pointed out, then the meaning of negative expressions used about human beings, how they could be understood, and whether these expressions would mean a mere negativity were emphasized. As far as we can see, the positive expressions used about the human in the Qur'an are generally related to the value given to him, his responsibility and his position among the creatures, while the negative characterizations are about his nature. In addition the negative expressions used about human beings in the Quran do not only have a negative meaning. With these terms, attention has been drawn to some characteristics of human nature. The definition of these terms as positive or negative varies according to the place of use. For example, although impetuosity may seem like a negative quality at first glance, it becomes a positive quality when used where it is indicated by the Sharia. In addition, even if these terms express a negative, also point to the a person ability to acquire the positive qualities, which are the opposite of these. For example, ignorance shows the ability of a person to have knowledge, ungratefulness shows the ability of a person to be thankful, and injustice shows the ability of a person to be just.
