Abstract
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the death anxiety experienced by nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Material and Method: The research was carried out with 313 nurses working in a pandemic hospital in between 01 October - 31 October 2020. An introductory questionnaire and Thorson-Powell Death Anxiety Scale were used to collect data.
Results: In the study, it was determined that nurses had a moderate level of death anxiety, and the average Thorson-Powell Death Anxiety Scale score of nurses who worked 24 hours a day, especially in intensive care and emergency, and who had a high need for psychological support, was statistically significant and high. (p<0.05).
Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was determined that the death anxiety levels of nurses working 24 hours a day in intensive care units and emergency rooms were significantly higher.
