Akademisyenlerin Yeni Besin Korkularının ve Etkileyen Faktörlerin Saptanması

Abstract

Amaç: Daha önce tadılmamış, bilinmeyen besinlerden farklı derecelerde kaçınma durumu yeni besin korkusu olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Çalışma, akademisyenlerin yeni besin korkularının saptanması ve etkileyen faktörlerin incelenmesi amacıyla planlanmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışma, Eylül 2019 – Ocak 2020 tarihleri arasında Başkent Üniversitesi Bağlıca Kampüsü’nde farklı fakülte ve bölümlerin akademik personelinden gönüllü 173 kadın (%73.3) ve 63 erkek (%26.7) olmak üzere toplamda 236 yetişkin akademisyen dahil edilmiştir. Bireylerin kişisel özelliklerine, beslenme alışkanlıklarına ilişkin bilgileri saptamak amacıyla anket formu, yeni besin korkularını belirleyebilmek amacıyla yeni besin korkusu ölçeği (FNS) uygulanmıştır. Ölçekten alınan yüksek puanlar yeni besin korkusunu, düşük puanlar yeni besinlerden hoşlanmayı göstermektedir.
Bulgular: Bu çalışmadaki; bireylerin yaş ortalaması kadınlarda 37.9±11.03 yıl, erkeklerde 40.8±4.76 yıl olarak saptanmıştır. Bireylerin yeni besin korkusu (YBK) ortalama puanı 32,7±12,26 olarak saptanmıştır ve kadınlarda ve erkeklerde birbirine yakın değerlerde olduğu bulunmuştur (p>0.05). Yurt dışına çıkan bireylerin yeni besin korkuları çıkmayanlara göre daha düşük bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Yurt dışında besin seçimi yapan bireylerin yeni besin korkuları yapmayan bireylere göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur (p<0.001).
Sonuç: Bireylerin yeni besin korkusunu çeşitli faktörler etkileyebilmektedir. Bireylerin yeni besin korkularının nedeni detaylı incelenmeli, yaklaşımlar ve çözümler de uygun şekilde yapılmalıdır. Yeni besin korkusu arttıkça diyet kalitesinde düşme görülebileceğinden korku düzeyi yüksek olan bireyler beslenme danışmanlığı almak üzere diyetisyene yönlendirilmelidir.
