Abstract
This study was conducted to determine mobbing behaviors and their sources in the sports environment. The study, in which qualitative research methods were used, was designed using the phenomenology design. Ten athletes over the age of 18 who were exposed to mobbing participated in this study. The research data were obtained by interview method. The analysis was made using the inductive analysis method. In the study, the main themes of mobbing sources, mobbing behaviors, effects of mobbing and precautions for mobbing were reached. The results of the study show that whether it is individual or team sports, the mobbing behaviors that the athletes are exposed to and the effects are similar. It can be said that mobbing, caused by the reasons such as ambition, competition, jealousy, lack of self-confidence and stress, turns into the behaviors such as threats, mocking, contempt, ignorance, racism, swearing, violence and exclusion from the social environment. Psychological and organizational effects on the effect of mobbing behaviors in sports have been the other remarkable factors. As in all environments, it can be said that education, legal sanctions and increased awareness will be effective in preventing mobbing behaviors in sports.
