Spor Bilimlerinde İstihdam Edilebilirlik Algısı

Year 2024, Volume: 7 Issue: 4, 120 - 131, 31.12.2024

Abstract

Employability Perception in Sports Science

Year 2024, Volume: 7 Issue: 4, 120 - 131, 31.12.2024

Abstract

Purpose: This research was designed to examine the employability perceptions of students studying in sport sciences.
Method: The research was designed according to the causal comparison method from quantitative research methods. The sample of the study consisted of 111 female (36.2%) and 196 male (63.8%) 307 students studying at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Sport Sciences. The ‘Perception of Employability Scale’ developed by Rothwell et al. (2008) and adapted to Turkish culture by Karlı (2016) was used as a measurement tool in the study. Data were analyzed one-way multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) test was performed.
Resuls: Significant differences were found in the dimensions of university prestige and credibility of study field, which are sub-dimensions of the employability scale, in the variables of the department they studied and the perception of family income level. In addition, a statistically significant difference was found in the self-belief dimension of the scale according to the participants' having a qualification certificate in their fields. No difference was found in the gender variable.
Conclusion: As a result, it was determined that the employability perceptions of the students were high. In addition, differences were found in the perceptions of employability according to the departments they studied, family income level perceptions and having a qualification certificate for their fields.
