Marital Problems Questionnaire (MPQ) is used to measure the marital
quality and it especially focuses on four dimensions which are full marriage
harmony, the number and frequency of marital conflict on certain issues,
divorce risk, and marital satisfaction and instability. The purpose of this
study is to explore MPQ and examine the reliability and validity of Dyadic
Adjustment Scale (DAS), which measures full marriage harmony, for Adana. The
study also focuses on determining important demographic characteristics
affecting marital satisfaction, which is again measured with MPQ. For this
purpose, a sample of 319 residents that are married and living in Adana is
used. Factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient are used examine
validity and reliability of DAS for the sample chosen. Using ANOVA and t-tests,
significant differences for marital satisfaction are revealed for demographic characteristics.
