This study on the psycho-social changes experienced by earthquake victims after the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake focuses on the psycho-social effects of the earthquake, especially the displacement process. Although an earthquake is seen as a physical (natural) event related to nature, the earthquake has a social and psychological impact dimension in a broader context. With the relocation process, various factors such as moving to a different city, establishing a new environment there, the role of NGOs in the process, and psychological support services in terms of adaptation conditions appear at the level of both psychological and social relations. For individuals who have experienced the earthquake disaster, issues such as how the effects of the earthquake are manifested in terms of religion and how religion is used functionally in this process become important for individuals in coping with disasters, rebuilding life, and ensuring the continuity of life. Earthquake survivors who move to another city to overcome the problems they face in their region are more likely to encounter many new cultural, economic, psychological, and social issues in their new settlements. This situation makes it essential to provide social relationships and support networks in the new settlement, thus making the role of NGOs and spiritual counselors critical in the process.
This research is based on the phenomenological approach, one of the qualitative research methods. The purpose of this approach in the study is to examine in depth the emotions, perceptions, thoughts, and religious discourses in the statements of individuals who had to migrate to Samsun after the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake. The research group consists of 14 earthquake survivors, 3 NGO volunteers, and three spiritual counselors and guides. The study's data were obtained through semi-structured interview forms containing 12 predetermined questions for earthquake survivors. The data obtained were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method, and the findings were organized and interpreted frequently, including the statements of the participants in this analysis. The analysis process was carried out by addressing the religious-sociological and religious-psychological dimensions of the earthquake.

This study, which is about the psycho-social changes experienced by earthquake victims after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, focuses especially on the effects of the earthquake on the displacement process. Although the earthquake seems to be a physical (natural) event related to nature, the social and psychological impact of the earthquake is in question in a broader context. With the relocation process, we encounter problems at both the psychological and social relations level in terms of adaptation conditions such as moving to a different city, establishing a new environment there, the roles of NGOs in the process, and psychological support services. For individuals who experience an earthquake disaster, issues such as how the effects of the earthquake are manifested religiously and how religion is used functionally in this process become essential for individuals in terms of coping with disasters, rebuilding life, and ensuring the continuity of life. Earthquake victims who move to another city to overcome the problems they face in the region they live in are more likely to encounter many new cultural, economic, psychological, and social problems in their new settlement. This situation makes it essential to provide different relationships and support networks in the region of settlement, thus making the role of religious NGOs and spiritual consultants in the process a critical position.
In this research, discourse analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The purpose of prefering discourse analysis in the research is to analyze deeply with which religious discourses individuals explain their earthquake experiences. In this context, interviews were held with earthquake victims to analyze the religious discourses of the participants regarding the earthquake. The questions asked to the participants were designed to collect data on the religious thoughts, behavior, and psychological states of people with migration and earthquake experiences.
