The theme of this work is how Islamic religion is presented in the religious
lesson books in Norwegian public schools. For this reason, 7, 8 and 10 class
religious books were chosen as examples. In the selection of textbooks, the second stage of primary education in which religion was dealt with in more detail
and the critique was made was preferred. The 9th-grade religion course is not
included in the review because Islam is not included in the book. Firstly, in our
study, we addressed content of books than the subject of Islam was examined
in detail. This examination aims to determine whether the presentations of the
Islamic religions present the appropriate information in the present course, and
how obedience to the principle of objectivity is given. As a result of our analysis, it is seen that the basic texts about Islam are given correctly in the textbooks
but it is found that there are some mistakes in the use of Islamic terminology. It
is understood that some of the topics in Islamic religion are misinterpreted. At
the end of the study, some suggestions were made in the Norwegian Religion
textbooks on how to correct mistakes related to the Islamic religion.
