Periodontal Durum ve Maksiller Sinüs Hastalıkları Arasındaki İlişkinin Konik Işınlı Bilgisayarlı Tomografi Kullanılarak Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2022, Volume: 8 Issue: 2, 39 - 45, 21.11.2022

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma ile Konik Işınlı Bilgisayarlı Tomografi (KIBT) kullanılarak, maksiller premolar ve molar dişlerin periodontal durumu ve sinüs hastalıkları üzerindeki etkisi arasındaki ilişkinin varlığı değerlendirildi.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Ağız, Diş ve Çene Radyolojisi Anabilim Dalı’na 2019-2021 yılları arasında, farklı nedenlerle başvuran 300 hastanın 600 maksiller sinüs KIBT görüntüsü retrospektif olarak incelenmiştir.
Bulgular: Hastaların 121’i erkek (%40,3), 179’u kadındı (%59,7).

Evaluation of the Relationship Between Periodontal Condition and Maxillary Sinus Diseases Using Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Year 2022, Volume: 8 Issue: 2, 39 - 45, 21.11.2022

Abstract

Aim: In this study, the existence of the relationship between the periodontal status of maxillary premolars and molars and its effect on sinus diseases was evaluated using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT).
Materials and Method: 600 maxillary sinus CBCT images of 300 patients who applied to Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology between 2019-2021 were retrospectively analyzed.
Results: Of the patients, 121 (40.3%) were male and 179 (59.7%) were female. The age of all patients ranged between 18 and 77 years, with a mean age of 41.38 (±14.39) years. No pathology was detected in 359 (59.8%) of the maxillary sinuses examined and were considered as healthy sinuses. Mucosal thickening was the most common pathology in 241 (40.2%) maxillary sinuses in the imaging area.
Conclusion: While there is a significant relationship between the teeth in periodontal bone loss, and maxillary sinusitis, where no other dental pathology is seen (p<0.05), there was a significant relationship between teeth with periapical lesions and mucosal thickening (p<0.05).
