Çeviri yaparken her iki dile,
kültüre yeterince hâkim olmamak bir dizi çeviri hatalarına yol açabilir. Bu noktada
kaynak ve erek dilde yeterli kelime hazinesine sahip olmanın yanı sıra
kelimelerin kullanım alanlarını, kurallarını, edim bilimsel etkilerini,
sözdizimsel kuralları vs. de iyi bilmek gerekir. Humboldt ve Saussure’ün dil
hakkındaki düşüncelerinden etkilenen Trier’in ortaya attığı sözlüksel alan teorisinin metin anlama ve
anlatma edinci kapsamında etkilerinin neler olabileceği ve çeviribilimin
sözlüksel alan teorisinden nasıl yararlanabileceği konusu irdelenmeye
çalışılacaktır.
When translating from one language
to another, lack of good command of some skills in both the source and the
target languages culturally may lead to a set of translation errors. It is
essential that one should not only possess some vocabulary skills in both
languages, but also know about the pragmatic rules that govern the language in
the appropriate selection and combination of single words into sentences. The article
seeks to examine; the possible effects of “lexical field theory” introduced by Trier, who had been inspired by the suggestions of Humboldt and Saussure
for language, on developing text comprehension skills and narrative competence;
and how the theory can be of any use in translation studies.
According to Trier
(1931), one can only acquire the meaning of a word through its relationships to
other words within the same word-field. Meaning does not exist without the
word-field. Lack of a concrete word relating to the thought to be described
does not imply the nonexistence of that thought in the language. Based on
experience and cultural knowledge, we can interpret this concept.
