Abstract

Abstract
This study was carried out to examine the mineralogical, petrographic and petrological properties of Eocene volcanics rocks outcropping around Yusuefli. The Eocene volcanic rocks cropping out in the study area are generally blackish gray, greenish gray and are highly altered. As a result of thin section studies on rock samples taken from different locations where these rocks are exposed, it has been determined that they have a mineralogical compositions consisting of plagioclase – pyroxene – amphibole – calcite – chlorite – opaque minerals with porphyritic and intersertal texture. It has been observed that the volcanic rocks in the study area are in the composition of andesite, basalt and basaltic andesite. Diagrams created with the data obtained from the analyzes of the selected rock samples showed that the Eocene volcanic rocks are calc-alcaline type rocks. The rare element distributions normalized to condrite are concave in shape, and the fact that thay are generally distributed paralell to each other suggests that the volcanic rocks were originated from the same orsimilar source.
