The purpose of the study is to develop the
Marriage Anxiety Scale (MAS) which can be used to assess the marriage anxiety
of individuals. Data collected from single individuals. This research consisted
of 369 volunteer participants, comprising 135 men and 264 women, the content
validity, concurrent validity, and the construct validity was used to examine
the validity of the scale. The expert’s opinion is applied for content
validity. The explanatory factor analysis was used to assess construct
validity. The criterion validity is assessed by examining the correlation of
the MAS with State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Internal consistency coefficient
and test-retest methods were used to determine the reliability level of the
scale. Moreover, corrected item-total correlation was examined for item
analyses. Findings showed that the scale has good psychometric properties of content
validity, criterion validity, construct validity, internal consistency
reliability, and test–retest reliability. The corrected item total correlation
level of all items acceptable. These results show that the Marriage Anxiety
Scale is a valid and reliable instrument.
