Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of the students studying in the Civil Engineering Department about the concept of adult education through metaphors. For this purpose, the students of Karadeniz Technical University Civil Engineering Department were given a form that on written “For me, adult education is like ………; because ……… ”. And they were asked to complete the sentence. The contents of the forms filled out by the students were examined and it was seen that they used 75 different metaphors. Then, 14 categories were obtained by looking at the reasons for using these metaphors. As a result of the research, it has been determined that civil engineering students think that adult education is often difficult to get efficiency and a good educator should be needed to get efficiency.
