The aim of this study is to examine the “self perception” and “life satisfaction” of adolescents’ who take the student selection and placement exam (SSPE) by getting prepared for the exam, in terms of “gender”, “rate of taking the exam”, “condition of attending training centers”, “type of high schools graduated” and “efficiency perception of the high school education”. The sample of the study consists of students (n=392) in 17-18 age range who live in Ankara and took the SSPE by getting prepared in 2012-2013 education year. In collecting the data regarding the independent variables, personal information form developed by the researchers has been used; in collecting the data related to the students’ self perceptions, the Basic Self Assessment Scale (Judge, Erez, Bono & Thoresen, 2003) has been used; in collecting the data related to their life satisfaction, the General Life Satisfaction Scale (Diener, Emmons, Laresen & Griffin, 1985) has been used. As a result of the research, the self perceptions of the adolescents’ who take the exam has been relatively differed in terms of “high schools graduated”, “efficiency perception of high school education”, and “condition of attending training centers”; on the other hand, their “life satisfaction” has differed relatively in terms of “efficiency perception of high school education” and “condition of attending training centers”. Results showed that there is a significant middle level positive relationship between students' self conception and life satisfaction.
