Abstract
Along with the developing global economic structure, it is seen that financial markets have been developing. One of the crucial development of the last 50 years is interest-free financing. The inclusion of participation banks in the development plans in Turkey and the existence of participation banks established by the state have contributed to the rapid growth and development of these institutions. In this study, some information is given about interest-free banking in the world, the definition of the system expressed as participation banking in our country and its implementation in Turkey. The financial data of the participation banks operating in Turkey in 2011-2020 were analyzed to examine their financial performance by using the Promethee method. According to the results of the research; the banks with the highest performance are, in order: Kuveyt Türk, Türkiye Finans and Vakıf Katılım. The lowest performing banks are; Albaraka Türk, Bank Asya and Emlak Katılım. When the obtained findings are evaluated, it is recommended that each participation bank included in the analysis make planning by considering their performance positions compared to other participation banks. In addition, it is thought that it is crucial for investors who plan to invest in participation banks, in terms of examining the performance of participation banks, making investment decisions and investment planning.
