Abstract
Geographical locations, climate characteristics, cultural backgrounds of cities; affect sselection materials, spatial organizations and structural systems of traditional buildings. While spatial separation is affected by the cultural characteristics of the place where the buildings are built and the needs of theusers, choice of material is more related to the availability of the material. Traditional buildings which built with these specific effect of region, become the architectural symbols and cultural heritages of the city in which they are located. Documentation and examination of the structural systems of these buildings accepted as cultural heritage is significant in terms of revealing the diversity of building types in Turkey and integrating them into modern architecture by transferring them to future generations. Çorum is a city which have easy accessibility and processability for wood because of its geographical location and climatic feature. Therefore, wooden architectural materials and structural systems are preferred in traditional Çorum houses. In this study; 7 traditional Çorum houses which was prepared survey projects by Çorum Municipality are examined to understand and evaluate the spatial organizations, structural systems and wooden material usage. Thus, this research expected to contribute to the studies which examine the usage areas of wood in traditional Çorum houses and traditional buildings.
