Abstract
In this article, the madrasa revolts and banditry movements that took place in Anatoliain the years 1587-1588, according to the unpublished master’s thesis named “transcription and evaluation of Mühimme Record numbered 62” are discussed. The first part of the article, which consists of three parts, is the definition of banditry and the reasons for the riots, the second part is the acts of banditry and the measures taken by the state against them and the third part is the punishments given to the rebels. The main purpose of the study is to try to understand the situation of the rebellions in Anatolia in the years 1587-1588. As a result of the examination of 455 provisions on the last 135 pages of the Mühimme Record numbered 62, the information obtained about the madrasah rebellions and banditry movements was examined. In the article, there is information such as what the madrasahs and bandits did in general, in which regions madrasah rebellions and banditry movements took place and what was the situation of the people in Anatolia in this confusion and why the people who left their place migrated. The rioters were classified and examined. The extent to which the rebels in the state levels harmed the public and the state has been explained through the provisions. According to the provisions examined, information was given about the methods applied by the state to prevent riots, to end banditry, to ensure the peace of the people and the punishments given to the captured bandits.
