Abstract
Seray Şahiner, one of the important writers of the last period, deals with the problems of women's daily life in her works. In these works, women search for ways to violate the boundaries of the male world in order to overcome their problems. Going out of the "safe" area allocated for them, that is, the house, is one of the important border violations. It is an existential step for Ülker, who is the focal figure of the novel Ülker Abla, to run away from home and take shelter in the hospital in order not to be killed by her husband. Ülker's frequent use of slang and profanity in this novel is a result of his effort to seize the male language. In the novel Antabus, there is an effort to leave the male world full of beating and torture by running away from home. In these works, and in others, the place where women both take refuge and acquire a lot of information about themselves is television. Television is also a way of escaping the painful life.
