THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ERGONOMICS SCIENCE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW

Öz

Artificial intelligence has emerged as one of the most widely used technologies, profoundly impacting ergonomic applications. This study aims to explore the relationship between artificial intelligence, which lies at the core of industrial transformation, and the science of ergonomics through bibliometric analysis, uncovering current trends, academic collaborations, and research priorities for integrating advanced technologies into the field of ergonomics. A total of 267 articles published between 1977 and 2024, obtained from the Scopus database using the keywords "Ergonomics" and "Artificial Intelligence," were analyzed using bibliometric methods. The data obtained were evaluated using the bibliometrix package in R Studio software. According to the findings, publications showing a steady annual growth rate of 8.63% have a high level of academic impact, with an average of 21.18 citations per article. The most frequently used keywords were "Ergonomics" (230 times) and "Artificial Intelligence" (225 times), highlighting human-centered approaches and technological solutions in the studies. The United States, contributing 200 publications, was the country making the most significant contribution to the field, followed by the United Kingdom and China. The journal Ergonomics, with 17 articles, stood out as the most prolific source of publications.

Öz

Yapay zekâ, ergonomi uygulamalarını derinden etkileyen ve en yaygın kullanılan teknolojilerden biri olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışma, endüstriyel dönüşümün merkezinde yer alan yapay zekâ ile ergonomi bilimi arasındaki ilişkiyi bibliyometrik analiz yoluyla inceleyerek, ergonomi alanında gelişmiş teknolojilerin entegrasyonu için mevcut eğilimleri, akademik işbirliklerini ve araştırma önceliklerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Scopus veri tabanında "Ergonomics" ve "Artificial Intelligence" anahtar kelimeleriyle elde edilen, 1977-2024 yılları arasında yayınlanmış 267 makale, bibliyometrik yöntem kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Analiz kapsamında elde edilen veriler, R Studio yazılımındaki bibliometrix kütüphanesi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgulara göre, yıllık %8,63 büyüme oranıyla düzenli artış gösteren yayınlar, ortalama 21,18 atıf ile yüksek akademik etki düzeyine sahiptir. En sık kullanılan anahtar kelimeler "Ergonomics" (230 kez) ve "Artificial Intelligence" (225 kez) olmuş, çalışmalarda insan merkezli yaklaşımlar ve teknolojik çözümler ön plana çıkmıştır. Alana en fazla katkı sağlayan ülke 200 yayınla ABD olurken, Birleşik Krallık ve Çin de önemli katkılarda bulunmuştur. Ergonomics dergisi 17 makale ile en fazla yayına sahip kaynak olarak öne çıkmıştır.
