Abstract

Measurements of the segments of the humerus, the longest and thickest bone of the arm, are a help ful factor for both anatomical and skelet on identification. Knowing the lengths mentioned may also be important for orthopedic surgery. To this end, maximum humeral length and some additional morphometric measurements were made on 30 (15 right, 15 left) adult dry humers of unknown gender. In the study, the morphometric measurements(distance between; caput humeri - apex of tuberculum majus, proximal point of caput humeri - collumanatomicum, proximal - distal points of fossa olecrani, distal point of fossa olecrani - distal point of trochlea humeri , the proximal point of the fossa olecrani - the distal point of the trochlea humeri, maximum length of the tuberculum majus, maximum length of the tuberculum minus, distance between the apex of the tuberculum minus and the midpoint of the tuberculum majus, epicondylus on the front face The distance between the medialis and epicondyluslateralis, the distance between the lateral and medial ends of the trochlea humeri on the anterior face, and the maximum thickness in the most concave part of the trochlea humeri) were recorded using a digital caliper. Pearson correlation analysis was performed between the parameters after calculating the mean values for the right and left humerus ( ±SD). A statistically significant correlation was detected between various measurement parameters and maximum humeral length in the right and left humerus (p<0.05). As a result, it is expected that all these measurements will be a useful step for forensic, anthropological, archaeological, and orthopedic research.

Abstract

Araştırma kapsamında morfometrik ölçümler (caput humeri–tuberculum majus’un tepesi arasındaki mesafe, caput humeri tepe noktasıyla collum anatomicum arasındaki mesafe, fossa olecrani’nin proksimal-distal noktaları arasındaki mesafe, fossa olecrani ile trochlea humeri’nin distal noktaları arasındaki mesafe, fossa olecrani’nin proksimal noktası ile trochlea humeri’nin distal noktası arasındaki mesafe, tuberculum majus uzunluğu, tuberculum minus uzunluğu, tuberculum minus’un tepe noktası ile tuberculum majus’un orta noktası arasındaki mesafe, önde epicondylus medialis-epicondyluslateralis arasındaki mesafe, ön yüzde trochlea humeri’nin lateral-medial uçları arasındaki mesafe, trochlea humeri’nin en çukur kısmının kalınlığı) dijital kumpas vasıtasıyla gerçekleştirildi.
