Determining the Relationship Between Ethical Behaviors and Moral Dissolution of Teachers - The Case of Arnavutköy District

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the relationship between teachers' moral disengagement and ethical behaviors and to determine the level of ethical dissociation of teachers. The study group of the research consists of 271 teachers, 184 women (67.9%) and 87 men (32.1%), working in different public schools operating in Istanbul Arnavutköy. The predictive correlational design was used to determine the level of predicting the moral dissolution of teachers' ethical behaviors. Regression and correlation methods were used in the analysis of the data. Standard multiple regression analysis was used to determine the power of ethical behaviors in predicting moral disengagement. As a result of the research; It has been determined that there is a positive and significant relationship between ethical behavior such as duty consciousness, virtuousness, human sensitivity, professional obligation and moral thought and moral disengagement. In addition, it was found that ethical behaviors significantly predicted mental well-being. Suggestions were made in accordance with the findings obtained as a result of the research.

Abstract

Bu araştırma, öğretmenlerin ahlaki çözülmeleri ve etik davranışlar arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi ve etik davranışların öğretmenlerin ahlaki çözülme düzeyini belirlemeyi amaçlamıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu İstanbul Arnavutköy ilçesinde faaliyet gösteren farklı kamu okullarında görev yapan 184’ü kadın (%67,9) ve 87’si erkek (%32,1) olmak üzere 271 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Öğretmenlerin etik davranışlarının ahlaki çözülmelerini yordama düzeyini belirlemek için yordayıcı korelasyonel desen kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde regresyon ve korelasyon yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Etik davranışların ahlaki çözülmeyi yordamadaki gücünün belirlenmesinde standart çoklu regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; etik davranışlardan olan görev bilinci, erdemlilik, insani duyarlık, mesleki yükümlük ve ahlaki düşünce ile ahlaki çözülme arasında pozitif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu saptanmıştır. Ayrıca etik davranışların mental iyi oluşu anlamlı bir şekilde yordadığı saptanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara uygun olarak önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
