Abstract

A strategy of masculinity: Masculine reticence in private sphere In recent years, critical studies of men and masculinities give a chance to examine masculinity in all areas and provide to explore the different relationalities. This article focuses on the relationship between men and home. It first assumed that men probably uses reticence as a tool to position themselves at home, a place that is attributed to women, and to stay stronger as they are in public space. In this context, it is argued that reticence as a masculine and voluntarily attitude is different than silence, and it is a strategy rather than a tactic because it is used by the powerful one. Argument that the men use masculine reticence as a strategy at home is supported by the interviews. The article focuses on the relationship between men, home and talking explored that masculine reticence is an important strategy for men to link themselves with home without losing their masculinity and being feminized
