Türkiye Şeker Pancarı Üretim Alanlarında Beet virus Q’nun Yaygınlığı

Year 2017, Volume: 46 Issue: 2, 53 - 60, 30.12.2017

Abstract

Prevalence of Beet Virus Q in Sugar Beet Production Areas of Turkey

Year 2017, Volume: 46 Issue: 2, 53 - 60, 30.12.2017

Abstract

Sugar beet (Beta
vulgaris
L.) is affected by soil-borne viruses transmitted by the plasmodiophorid
vector Polymyxa betae such as Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV),
Beet soil-borne virus (BSBV), Beet soil-borne mosaic virus (BSBMV) and
Beet virus Q (BVQ). BVQ has often
been reported with BNYVV and BSBV. Therefore, 82 soil samples known to be
infested with BNYVV and/or BSBV while 21 soil samples infested with P. betae were selected on the basis of
their geographical locations i
n 31 provinces in
Turkey
and used
in bait plant tests.
The presence of BVQ was
investigated by RT-PCR using the primers specific to RNA-1 segment.
Ninety
one of the 103 soil samples gave positive reaction for BVQ. The study showed
that BVQ was very common (88.35%) in all provinces except Gaziantep.
To our
knowledge, this is the first report of the occurrence of BVQ in Turke
