COMPARASIONAL STUDY ON MOTOR PROFICIENCY OF EDUCABLE MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN AND THEIR NORMAL PEARS

Year 1999, Volume: 4 Issue: 3, 3 - 14, 15.07.1999

Abstract

This study that has been planned with the purpose to determine the differences between educable mentally retarded (EMR) children and their normally developed peers by studying their strengths, coordinations and flexibility and to present the results to physical educator and child developer has been carried out on totally 313 (156 EMR children and 157 children with normal development). As the means of getting data " Project Unique Test" and "Physical and Motor Proficiency Test" which has been suggested by Hastad and Lacy (1989) have been used.

According to the results of the study it has been determined that EMR children are significantly insufficient in the aspects of standing long jump, situps, shuttle run, flexibility, graps strength compared to their peers with normal development. Sex differences that have been observed on normally developed children couldn't be observed on EMR children. While there are relations between the age and a lot of parameters of normally developed children there is no relation between the age and any parameters on EMR children.

EĞİTİLEBİLİR ZİHİNSEL ENGELLİ ÇOCUKLARIN MOTOR YETERLİLİKLERİNİN NORMAL GELİŞİM GÖSTEREN YAŞITLARI ILE KARŞILAŞTIRILARAK İNCELENMESİ

Year 1999, Volume: 4 Issue: 3, 3 - 14, 15.07.1999
