A Tobit Analysis of Factors Affecting Mineral Water Demand: The Case of Beypazarı District

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the consumption of mineral water by households and the socio-economic factors that affected the level of consumption. A Tobit model was used in the data analysis to determine the effects of various socio-economic variables on consumption. The study found that variables such as job, the price of mineral water, gender, marital status, wife’s employment, age and the level of consumption frequency had a significant effect on mineral water consumption by households. Based on the findings of this research, mineral water companies can implement new policies or they can modify their income-increasing policies.

Maden Suyu Talebini Etkileyen Faktörlerin Tobit Modeli İle Analizi: Beypazarı İlçesi Örneği

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı hanehalkının maden suyu tüketimi ve tüketim üzerine etkili sosyo-ekonomik değişkenlerin etkisini belirlemektedir. Araştırmada tüketim üzerine sosyo-ekonomik değişkenlerin etkisini belirlemek için sınırlı bağımlı değişken modeli (Tobit) yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları; meslek, maden suyu fiyatı, cinsiyet, medeni durum, eşinin çalışma durumu, yaş ve tüketim sıklığı düzeyinin tüketim üzerinde etkisinin anlamlı olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu araştırma sonuçlarına göre firmalar yeni politikalar uygulaya bilir veya karlarını artırıcı politikalarını yenileyebilirler.
