ABSTRACT
In this study, it was researched that effects of wood type, joint profile and glue type on tensile strength of end to end finger joints. For this purpose, it was prepared totaly number of 120 samples, sharp finger types 10 mm, trapezium shaped finger type 10 mm have been opened to the end of wood samples which are widely used in furniture industry such as, beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris Lipsky) and sessile oak (Quercus petraea Lipsky) species. Finger joints have been bonded with glue of klebit 303 and kleiberit 305. Tensile tests were applied to the samples according to DIN 53254 standard method. As a result, the highest tensile strength has been determined on sharp finger type with 10 mm joints prepared from beech wood and glued with klebit 303.
Key Words : Finger joint, pine, beech, sessile oak, tensile strength.
