ABSTRACT
In this study, the simulation results concerning speed control of the induction motor by using a matrix converter have been given. The field oriented control technique was preferred while making speed control of the induction motor with a matrix converter. Over nominal speed, the flux has been weakened. Therefore, decreasing magnetic saturation and heat dissipation, torque production and drive efficiency were improved at the desired speed. In order to provide unity power factor for the running converter, the space vectors of input currents and output voltages were used in the matrix converter. By using the data taken from the controller, the required switching signals for the matrix converter has been produced. These signals have been taken by using the space vector pulse width modulation technique. Parameters of 4 kW induction motor have been used in the simulation process.
