Abstract
The invention of writing is considered a great step for mankind. This is also an important advance in forming sounds and making them visible. Although the history of sound is older, it can be said that after writing embodies it, it acquires new functions by taking on new meanings.
Sound is primarily a vibration and is a research topic for many disciplines, including physics, medicine, language, history, music, archaeology, and in recent years, computer science. It is called the "smallest unit of language" and is an object of study in the sense of grammar. If the symbol of sound is the letter, it creates a wealth of references in many fields of science. The first article of every dictionary and encyclopedia is a letter. Definitions are created based on the sounds of the letters and their use in each language. Ekşi Sözlük, a free social media space, contains rich associations as well as the uses of letters compared to these mostly standard definitions.
