Yenidoğan Yoğun Bakım Ünitelerinde Yeni Bir Çağın Başlangıcı: Aile Entegre Bakım

Abstract

The Dawn of A New Era in Neonatal Intensive Care Units: Family Integrated Care

Year 2021, Volume: 4 Issue: 2, 123 - 135, 31.05.2021

Abstract

The survival chance of premature infants have increased with advanced technology, antenatal and neonatal care implementations. Despite of the improvement in the chance of infants survival, follow-up neurodevelopmental problems have pointed out long-term outcomes. Neonatal intensive care units are specialized eras to meet the care needs of risky infants. Today, the purpose of these units is not only keeping the infants with special care needs alive, but also providing quality and safe care to have similar neurodevelopmental chances with healthy term ones. Family intagrated care is an essential step to create family-centered care culture, to transfer developmental care into practices in units by adopting the principle “knowledge is power” through increasing the competence of parents who will be the primary caregivers of their infants.
