Abstract
In Turkey, on the other hand, the spread of the internet is above the world average. Today, the internet connects everyday life to the virtual space with all its contexts, and even further, the equivalents of 'sound, image, etc.' of real life are uploaded to virtual networks almost instantaneously. This situation causes all the contexts of the “social” to find a response on the internet. One of the most important situational contexts of a society is the phenomenon of crime. Therefore, the intersection point of the internet and crime contexts should not be neglected in social studies. The main problem of the study is the relation of academic interest in Turkey with social reality in the context of internet and crime. This study is a qualitative and uses case study approach. The data collection technique is based on document analysis and index review. In the study, two basic data sets between 2000 and 2020 were reached and a crossover analysis of these two data sets was presented. In the first data set, the numerical situation regarding the factual counterparts of crime and cybercrime was obtained with the document analysis technique. In the second data set, a numerical results were obtained regarding the academic status of internet, crime, crime and internet subjects by scanning the TR Index. According to the cross-analysis of these two data sets, despite the fact that cyber crimes increased exponentially in Turkey, TR index academic interest in internet and crime was still insufficient. In the conclusion part, the results related to the sub-questions of the study and the conceptual and statistical issues encountered during the study are also presented.
