In this study, the socio-economic impacts of Deriner Dam and HEPP Project have been evaluated within the framework of the concept of sustainability. When the economic sustainability of the Deriner Dam and HEPP Project is examined, it is seen that it contributes to domestic and national energy production and contributes to the economy of the country and the region by reducing foreign energy dependency and energy imports. The social sustainability of the project contains positive and negative elements. During the project process, the expropriation costs were paid with different fees in the areas that were inundated during the project, agricultural areas narrowed due to the fact that some of the expropriated areas were agricultural land, the agricultural production potential of the province decreased and as a result, agricultural income decreased. However, besides these negatives, the employment opportunities for the local people during the construction and operation periods of the dam, the development of animal husbandry, the creation of new job opportunities such as beekeeping and fishing can be listed as positive social effects. Finally, the aquaculture, tourism and recreation potentials of the Deriner Dam and HEPP Project can contribute to increasing its economic and social sustainability.
