This paper is regarding the design, modeling and simulation of squirrel cage induction motor input current total harmonic distortion depending on pulse width modulation (PWM) carrier frequency. The proposed solar system is a combination of a boost DC/DC chopper, DC/AC inverter and three-phase squirrel cage induction motor. The relationship between carrier frequency of PWM and total harmonic distortion for current (THDI) is examined in this article. Thus, an inverse relationship is observed between the carrier frequency and THDI. To study the performance of PV off-grid connected system, PV system is modelled using MATLAB/Simulink and detail study has been carried out in this work. The design, modelling and simulation of this topology have been performed from 250 Hz to 51 kHz at PWM’s carrier frequency. The satisfactory performance was obtained for mitigation harmonic distortion higher than 1 KHz of PWM’s carrier frequency. Thus, we present Modeling& Simulation of solar inverter fed three-phase squirrel cage induction motor in MATLAB/Simulink software programming. Analytical expression of relationship between THDI and PWM’s carrier frequency has been obtained by curve fitting method.
