Abstract
This study has been carried out to evaluate the interpersonal styles and social well-being of patients who receive hemodialysis treatment. This descriptive cross-sectional type research has been conducted with 69 patients who received hemodialysis treatment in the Hemodialysis Unit of a public hospital and volunteered to participate in the study, between 18.10.2019-10.01.2020. The data have been collected by using; Personal Information Form, Interpersonal Style Scale (ISS), and Social Well-Being Scale (SWS). The data were evaluated with; mean, standard deviation, frequency, Student t-test, One Way ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation Analysis. The mean total score of the ISS of the patients is 128.65±29.9, and the mean total score of the SWS is 53.72±14.48. There is a statistically significant difference between ISS; avoiding, anger, and cynical style sub-dimension score averages according to the age status (p<0.05). There is a statistically significant negative correlation between SWS and ISS anger style sub-dimension scores (p<0.05). According to these results, it has been found that individuals who have end-stage renal insufficiency, undergo hemodialysis treatment, and especially young aged display more negative interpersonal style, and individuals with low social well-being adopt anger as interpersonal style.
