The periods of Prophet Muhammad and Four Caliphs in Islamic history are the terms of similar features and Medina-centric. With Muawiya b. Abu Sufyan’s establishing the Umayyad Caliphate at the end of the struggle with Ali b. Ebu Talib for caliphate and with the election of Damascus as the Capital, a new term started and the course of the relationship with the Christian elements has changed with the impact of real-politics. In this context the Umayyads took a more tolerant stand for Christians. Because the Umayyads were in need of the Christians’ support against the inner opposition. As a result of this, mutual interaction has started to appear in the different fields of life. In this article, we will discuss especially the effects of Christians on Islamic Society in Umayyad Era with different aspects.
