Sezai Karakoç, who is mostly known as a poet and a thinker in the Turkish literature, wrote stories and pieces in addition to poems and think pieces. Since his identity as a poet and a thinker is at forefront and the number of stories and pieces he wrote is less than other works by him, studies on Karakoç’s literal writings so far have been concentrated mostly on his poems. This article aims to contribute to studies on Sezai Karakoç as a playwright by examining five plays published by him.
In the five plays which this article examines, although Sezai Karakoç did not have any inclination to imitate, he is affected by Necip Fazıl Kısakürek’s works to whom he had a special admiration and respect. In this point, having the same conservative world views and similarities in their regards to the art were effective. While comparing the works of Necip Fazıl and Sezai Karakoç, in the light of concrete examples, this study explores in which points Karakoç was influenced by Necip Fazıl.
