Abstract
Abstract: In this study, female characters in The Wedding of Zein, Season of Migration to the North, The Light of the House, Maryud of the wellknown Sudanese novelist Tayyib Sâlih, who is one of the most important writers of African and Arabic literature, will be examined. Tayyib Sâlih is a writer with a deep knowledge both of Islam, Sufism and classical Arabic literature as well as Western literature. In his novels, he simultaneously addresses despair and hope, complex relationships between men and women, customs and traditions based on the simple life in the village of Ved Hamid by choosing heroes among domestic and foreign characters. He fluently presents the changes taking place in the transition to modernism to the reader from the mouth of the men and women narrators. The female characters in Tayyib Sâlih’s novels that form the basis of our work will be comprehensively evaluation terms of marriage, personality traits, sexuality and social life. This study aims to provide a new perspective about the role of women in the Arab community.
