This paper describes a floristic study of the vicinities of Avlan Lake. The study was conducted between the years 2007 and 2009 and 700 plant specimens were collected. As a result of identification of the collected specimens, 298 taxa at the specific and sub-specific ranks have been determined from the area which belong to 49 families and 158 genera. Thirty-five of taxa were collected for the first time from square C2. The richest family and the richest genus of the research area were found as Asteraceae and Galium respectively. 54 of the collected plant species were endemic and its ratio to total is 18.12 %. The distribution of species according to the phytogeographical regions is as follows: East Mediterranean; 18.12 %, Irano-Turanian; 10.40 %, Mediterranean; 8.38 %, Euro-Siberian; 3.02%, Widespread and Unknown; 60.06 %
