Kromit
Although the use of
multiple geophysical methods in the search of chromite mines is the first
choice in the world in general, in the past of our country, the search for such
mines has often been limited to the results of surface surveys or only one
methodical geophysical applications have been carried out. For this reason, the
reserves in many existing chromite areas have not yet been determined by their
real potential.
In
this study, it is aimed to investigate the continuity of the buried potential
reserve of an abandoned chromite mine site located in the north western part of
the Sütçüler district of Isparta province, which is not currently in operation.
For this purpose, gravity and magnetic measurements were carried out with an
average spacing of 5 m in a pilot study area of 300 m × 400 m in size. As a
result of the interpretation of the potential field data obtained, the
existence of anomalous areas where high density and low magnetic susceptibility
structures could be the sources were determined. In particular, these areas
point to the potential presence of buried mining reserves in the study area.
