Abstract

Stres herhangi bir uyarana karşı organizmanın verdiği yanıttır. Organizma için tehdit oluşturan ve stres yanıtını başlatan uyaranlara stresör denir. Stres akut stres ve kronik stres olmak üzere canlı organizmasında iki etki göstermektedir. Akut stres yaşam ve büyüme için gerekli olan homeostatik dengenin korunmasını sağlayan sağlıklı bir tepkidir. Kronik stres ise stres kaynağının bunaltıcı ve çözülemediği durumlarda ortaya çıkan patalojik bir durumdur. Bu durumda stres yanıtını kontrol eden nöroendokrin bağımlı negatif geri bildirim mekanizması çalışmaz, reseptör dirençleri gelişir ve stresin moleküler mediatörlerinin kandaki seviyeleri yüksek kalır. Sonuç olarak başta bağışıklık sistemi olmak üzere kardiyovasküler, endokrin, renal ve merkezi sinir sistemi hastalıkları gelişir, uzun vadede ise organlar ve dokular üzerinde çoklu hasarlar görülür.
